Street theatre

What is the street theatre? This sound like walking to the street. No. if you know that street theatre is one of genre performances in outdoor theatre. This performances is most popular in European country like England, France, Italy and now after I’m survey at the internet, I saw this street theatre also have in Asian country like India, Malaysia(mostly in Pasar Seni, Kuala Lumpur),Singapore and the other.
So, after I’m read and watching at the internet, I found that answer about the street theatre. Now in my perception, I think that street theatre is an outdoor performance that need one or above performer to reacting what issue and message that person or they want to shown to the audien especially in public. The issue that they want to perform maybe touching about politic, economy and social. Generally, after i’m read and saw it, I think the person or group that involve in this outdoor performance want to share something issue which public may be also want to succed that issue in future. For example, about human right, violent is not good to all people maybe in family institution, community institution and our country. So the performance touch about how to prevent and reduce the violent. This message also happen in their life. Maybe before this audien ever think that violent must to stop and fight.
In this street theatre also have their independent issue that they act and react to find the juctice. So I think their performance also have many kind of theatre genre, for example, monodrama, monologue, dance-drama, drama, experimental theatre, absurd theatre and the others. Their performance maybe have many movement and they must to chorograph in their own style. Their acting 100% no dialogue and just spontaneous to perform.




Environmental theatre
Environment? Good or Bad? Environment means surroundings or natural world. So what correlation(connection) with theatre. I think maybe their performance in environment space or their main title that called environmental theatre maybe their performance is connected with environment in our nature place that have human, animals, plants, river, rock and the other. Environment
in city is much more modern and have bad condition like pollution, hazer and other.
Why the issue or message that their performer is about environment trouble(bad things) in their performance? I think as a human in the world have a big ability and must brave in what the human also that they do a bad thing such as throw rubbish in toilet, smoke in public site and throw chewing gum in wall. This evidence shown that the issue is likely about that.
I think their actor perform in one or more than one. So the actors have a good attitude as patient, honest and sincere to give a good message to the audien that they also can think and feel like perfomers. Audien maybe do their action after watching this theatre. We don’t know that each audien maybe want to change it(means that maybe the issue is about stop smoking). In public site I think many kind of audien maybe they have profession or not.
They maybe used guitar or other musician instrument to attract and to entertain to audien that they have the right issue to express their thinking to audien also.



Political theatre

Political means that the power of one institution that they have a leader and other commuttee that choosen from elction or maybe from society.
In theatre, I think that started at Europe(Britain) in 20 century that in this time the changing political system happen.France Revolution in that century effect to all street theatre performance and they want independent to our community. They perform in political message to all community to give chance to express their freedom and to their political system from royal system to democracy system. That means they want our people to grow up and don’t be a slave person. Our community in France have their chance to live in their voice. Their leader is a person that born from people voice not from the cruel system before(royal system). This political theatre maybe perform in forum theatre, community theatre and other. This because our workers in this time were fight together in their teamwork move from bad living(poor life)to independent living. That means our people must help together in their life. Political theatre same means like agit-prop theatre. So that’s why 2 type of this theatre have a same message like freedom, independent in their politic system and their life.


Site-specific theatre

What is specific?The word means explicit,precise and special. So, in this theatre maybe perform in specific place in their planning.
In my opinion, I think ‘site-specific’ theatre means that the company,group or a person which doing this performance in precise location and maybe the story or issue in this theatre maintain with the character that the actor must know about the history in that specific place. So, that’s why this performing theatre is depend to their location which they must know what the issue that they choose and they must believe that place can give spirit to their company and group.
On the other hand, this site-specific also related with environment and alternative theatre, but this is not same like the other theatre genre like street theatre and political theatre. Site-specific maybe can perform in absurd and experimental form in theatre but in a reality of site that they choose sometime they do like a real costume such as the issue in that theatre is about working class in office. So their group or maybe a person choose the place in the right place that related with their issue and location(maybe opposite office that they choose).
The actor just feel that their character in their style maybe mime or symbolic condition.
